We arrived at Letcombe slightly tense as England were teetering on the edge of a potentially massive loss against Australia. The rain had passed over earlier in the day leaving the wicket slightly sticky and very dead. I won the toss and elected to field first. After some early wickets, Letcombe settled in and scored 190 for 7. Pippy taking a couple of catches that were quite dull compared to last Wednesday’s outstanding diving catch. Colin MacKinnon also took a nice catch above his head.

Tea, as always at Letcombe was outstanding, although the nice looking chocolate cake disappeared and was devoured by the home team on their own. I’m sure it was just put there to make us jealous.

We tried hard to reach the total put before us, but something stopped us from batting very well. Barry top scored on 21, Andy Osbourn, Toby, Jake and Simon all got ducks. Everyone else scored somewhere in-between. So we were skittled out for 85 after 21 of the 40 overs. I think most people were more interested in how England were getting on against the Aussies as they just managed a draw. It was a bit squeaky bum time, if you know what I mean.

Man of the match was PoD for taking three wickets, one of which was the top scoring Letcombe batsman who was looking to score a century. Colin MacKinnon got Champagne moment for his catch and Pigs Ear went to DA for dropping one behind the stumps.
