Saturday Fixtures 2010

The fixtures for the Saturday league team are up, take a look on the OCA site here or on this site here. As you can see we were indeed successfully promoted last year to division 6, giving us a new breed of team to play against, and a stab at some old opponents in Garsington. First league game is the 1st May, however we are currently in negotiations for a friendly the week before this, on the Sunday. Will keep you all posted on this when we have more information.continue reading →

Match Report V Marsh Gibbon II Away

Hello Team... Colin and I did NOT have the luxury of picking from a decent number this week, and were very grateful to the two Bicester boys (cheers Jamie and Robert) for filling the last two spots and performing well. Overall it was a fantastic team performance. As usual I lost the toss and we were tasked with bowling 1st. So myself and Ryan Martin opened, what followed was one of the days were everything went to plan. Both of us bowling our full 12 overs, Ryan taking 4 wickets and a superb…continue reading →

Outdoor Nets

Out of almost no where the season is upon us, therefore after the success of the indoor nets last month it is time to get outside, in the sunshine (yeah right) and start some outdoor nets. First session will be on Tuesday 28th, from 6:30, depending on numbers who make it along activities will be decided at the time. This session is for everyone, Saturday/Sunday/Wednesday players! Of course this is dependant on the weather, so keep an eye on the website / email Tuesday afternoon for any updates.continue reading →

Quick Update

With the new season just around the corner I thought a quick update on what is going on with the club was in order. Early pre-season indoor nets went down well, a couple of well attended sessions at John Masons in Abingdon. Next it will be time to move outside and play some proper cricket. Before that can happen, we need to get the new carpet in the net laid (volunteers welcomed to help out). New side screen is on its way, yes that’s one less that will need repainting. Away dressing room…continue reading →

Pre Season Nets

...Start tomorrow. Super Nordic has booked the entire sports hall at John Masons School in Abingdon so there will be plenty of room for everyone. Maybe even some space to do more than just nets... Be there are 1045 so we make the most of the time, any questions on getting there give one of us a shout (me, Nordic, Duncs), same drill if you need a lift etc, I'm sure we can point you in the direction of someone who will be driving from somewhere near you. We are going to base…continue reading →

Wantage Cricket Club On Sky Sports

I kid you not, our illustrious traveler Chief is once again abroad following the England team, this time he’s out in the West Indies to watch the first two tests. All will know that the second innings didn’t go very well in the first test, with England being bowled out for 51. Silver lining is this picture though, Chief’s sign being shown on Sky Sports. Top work sir!continue reading →

Awards Evening

We finally got around to having the end of season bash, yes I know January is quite late but its all about building the anticipation don’t you know… This year we decided to congregate at the club house for the annual curry night and get a take away, fabulous idea. The curry was good, the drinks were flowing and the silly games were a plenty. Onto the awards: Sunday Team Best Batsman – Duncan “Longdog” Wooloff Best Bowler – Colin “Pod” Mercer Most Man of the Matches – Barry “Circus” Martin Most Pigs…continue reading →

I thought it was about time to sort out a little bit of advertising for the club so invested some money into local buses. You can see a shot of what it looked like below. Cool hey!continue reading →
